The Italian word Partita means dance suite, and all of the pieces on this concert feature dances from across cultures, time, and place. Bach’s monumental Partita No. 2 in d minor for Solo Violin turns 300 years old this year, and it features the famous Chaconne, which is one of the most important works for the violin. Bach’s collection of Baroque dances from Italy, Spain, and France are contrasted with Lehigh professor Paul Salerni’s modern take on the dance suite for violin and guitar, called Two Partita (a world premiere of a new arrangement). Violinist Jorgensen, guitarist Oren Fader (Theodore U. Horger ’61 Artist-in-Residence), and pianist Sohee Lee will also perform works by Manuel De Falla and Béla Bartok. LU Music Department website
