Jorgensen and pianist Steven Beck perform American music for violin and piano. African-American composer William Grant-Still’s thrilling Suite for Violin and Piano is featured along with the at times comical and poignant Charles Ives Violin Sonata No. 2, immigrant Paul Hindemith’s powerful Violin Sonata in C Major, and John Adams pulsing Road Movies. Also featured is Vespers, a work by “Brooklyn’s post-millennial Mozart” Missy Mazzoli for amplified violin and soundtrack.
